Do beauty pageants give off a bad message to young girls?
Is the way society views beauty a bad thing?
What can we do to give off a different message about beauty?
CLick the link to watch "Toddlers and Tiaras"
Beauty pageants are ways that girls as young as 6 months can cake on makeup, perfect their walking and put in endless time and effort to impress the judges.
Beauty Pageants are ways girls can "express" themselves
Most the time beauty pageants focus on looks and dresses- Not talents or skills.
Beauty pageants are giving off the wrong message about beauty to girls such a young age focusing on all things except personality
In the show Toddlers and Tiaras girls as young as 5 are dolled up and put in front of cameras to impress judges and the audience- giving off a negative view on beauty to young girls.
Being "beautiful" is something that has grown so important to girls in this society
The bar is set so high for everyone now a days, everyone is working so hard to reach that bar
Girls are "so obsessed with their looks and being skinny" (Source 2)
Media has a huge effect on what is considered beautiful
society should focus on things like intelligence, compassion, or motivation
Girls should stop focusing on their perfect bodies, or makeup and hair and start focusing on the things that actually matter
Social media doesn't have to focus on the unrealistic bodies of Instagram models and famous people with unrealistic looks.
Girls are trying so hard to reach those unrealistic looks when they should be focusing on other things
