After graduating, she was interested in aboriginal after the visit to southern Kwakiutl. Her other interests was in distinctive landscape of west coast Canada.
after long depression, an ethnologist (Lawren Harris)found her early work and bought it. also National gallery of Canada bought her work too, which one of person in group of six saw and ask her to join group of six. now the group of six became group of seven.
Emily Carr's childhood.
Emily Carr was born in Dec 13 1871 in Victoria. as a child she was talented at drawing and she enjoyed art. She had 1 brother and 4 sisters. soon she became a teenager and she got orphaned. she graduated from California school of design and Studio Colarossi.
After Emily came back to Victoria, she had long term illness. Plus her art work didn't sell at all, so she had to build small house apartment to rent to others to make money. because of that she had depression.
Emily died in Victoria 2 Mar 1945. her art work wasn't noticed for half of her life. she also had depression and lengthily illness. that is the consequences you have to go through if you want to be famous.
