Police Officer Career Description Police Officers serve and protect to keep citizens safe from any crime or danger. Police care about the communities and well-being of others. This is the reason why I am so drawn to being a police officer. iuiuiiiii78iii78i78 Education Training The minimum education required to become a police officer is a high school diploma. To better position yourself to land a career as a police officer it is recommended to pursue a College diploma or even better, a University degree.
If you plan on becoming a police officer, you should take the following courses in high school:

Grade 12
Social Study's
Health&Physical Education Police officer training usually includes the following:
Instruction in Federal, Provincial and Municiple laws
Police methods
Weapons handling
Conflict management
Accident investigation 1. Training Test Current Needs 2. knowing a second language 3. Levels of policing Salary Range Salary depends on the level of policing.
Probationary period starting off pays between 35,000 to 55,000 a year.
A full time officer pays between 50,000 to 85,000 a year.
Senior officers get payed 100,000 or more a year. Potential for Growth/ future outlook Potential for Promotion Potential for promotion is pretty good.
You can be promoted every 1-3 years depending on the levels of policing you are on. Higher you are the longer it may take for you to be promoted. Well, it really depends on your area, department, education and other deciding factors.

Some members of law enforcement later go into politics including running for Sheriff. Others may lean towards a specific specialty such as homicide/ arson investigation, drug task force, DUI enforcement, specialist dogs unit, forensic unit, crime scene investigator, and more.

So really, the potential is there. It's just starting out, learning and finding out specifically what you want to do as a Law Enforcement Officer. Potential Employers Potential employers for policing around Ontario are;
