What was the Great Depression?
The time period between 1929-1939 was known
as the Great Depression. It was one of the most devastating
and deepest economic downturns in American History. Citizens all over the U.S were struggling to find jobs,food, and shelter.
What caused the Great Depression?
The Great Depression was caused by many bad things just crashing down at once. The U.S business expanded too far and banks couldn't guarantee their customers. However, the major reason why the Great Depression was set into motion was that the stock market crashed in October 1929, Wall street was sent into a panic.

How many people rode the rails? Where were these people going?
The people that rode the rails were mostly poor hoboes. There were about 250,000 people in America who rode the rails. They were going west looking for jobs and wealth.
