Middle School is marked by
change more than any other
stage in life.
Physical Changes
Increased concern about looks
Sensitive and have a strong need for approval from others
Search for self, model behavior after older esteemed students or non-parent adult
Strong need to belong to a group, need for peer approval increases, adult approval decreases
Social skills frequently lag behind their mental and physical maturity
Often overreacts to ridicule, embarrassment, and rejection
Frequently thoughtless and calloused in their relationships with one another
