2.03 Assessment: The Crusades
Transcript of 2.03 Assessment: The Crusades
By Nichole Curry
Pope Urban II
1095-Emperor Alexius I Comnenus has come to me for help. He asks that I help defend the Byzantine Empire and retake the Holy Land. I will speak with the lords of Europe and ask them to combine their forces so we can reclaim the Holy Land from its Muslim conquerors.
Peter The Hermit
1096-I had heard word of retaking the Holy Land. I have been recruiting anyone and everyone willing to help. So far we have made it to Constantinople. I will be staying in Constantinople while the army continues forward towards Anatolia.
William of Tyre
I have never been able to witness history in the making until now. The Christians are waging war on the Muslims of the Middle East. This event will be spoken of for hundreds of years to come.
I have word that the Romans are sending a Christian Crusade. I am not worried however, they send untrained peasants. We will easily defeat the Christians and hold our ground within the Holy Land.
Richard the Lionheart
1192-Saladin and I have reached a truce. Saladin will still have control over Jerusalem but will allow Christians to visit the city and shrines. We will control the lands north of the city Jaffa.
