12 N 10 N So here, we have an unbalanced force. On the right, we have a 10 N force being applied to the rock. on the left we have a 12 N force. Therefore, the rock is going to move to the right, since there is more force being being applied to the rock in that direction. So in this example, the rock is going to move to the right. The questions asks:
What change in force would cause the ston to move toward the star symbol? Once we have this question in mind, we have to start looking in what ways will the rock move towards the star, which would be to the left.. Well.. We now know that if
it has a greater force going
that direction, then that's the
direction the object is going to
move. So now we want the force on the right of the object to have a greater force than the left of the object. That way, it can move towards the star.
