Transcript of Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac

Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac by Gabrielle Zevin Genre Setting Protagonist Conflict Theme Antagonist The genre of this book is realistic fiction. The protagonist falls down a flight of stairs and is diagnosed with amnesia. She has forgotten the last four years of her life. This story takes place in Tarrytown, New York. The protagonist attends Tom Purdue, a private school where her accident happens. She spends time after school to practice for a school play. Naomi Porter was abandoned in a Russian church when she was an infant. She knows nothing about where she came from. After suffering from a traumatic head injury she has to rediscover who she was before the accident. The antagonist of this book is Naomi's amnesia. The doctors said that she might or might not regain her memory. She has to retake all her classes. Naomi has lost all her memories from the last four years. She forgets why her parents are divorced and why her best friend calls her "Chief." This conflict is person versus nature and is internal. The theme of this book is small decisions can change someone's life in a big way. If Naomi hadn't picked heads she wouldn't have to go back to get the camera. She would've never fallen down the stairs. http://thedeporteeswife.wordpress.com/tag/falling-down-stairs/ http://www.roleplaygateway.com/windsor-private-school-closed-t41287.html http://ninobaby.wordpress.com/2010/01/24/memoirs-of-a-teenage-amnesiac/ http://seriousaccidents.com/amnesia/ http://www.goldenstateofmind.com/2010/4/16/1426767/breaking-news-golden-state Book level: 4.6
