Time Lasted between 3-4 years. Nazi’s used Jews as the reason for Germany’s poverty so they decided to try and eliminate the Jewish population from Germany. Reasoning Location Germany Killing Methods Concentration camps (with gas chambers and shootings). Comparing the Holocaust to the Rwandan Genocide Differences Similarities Families Almost every family was affected by the events. Cause Both were caused because one race felt they were superior above all others. Propaganda Both used forms of Propaganda. Both targeted a specific ethnic group of people. Both genocides. The Holocaust The Rwandan Genocide When the Tutsi's were given power over Rwanda the Hutu believed they were a more superior race so they started attacking the Tutsi's. The Holocaust The Rwandan Genocide Africa The Rwandan Genocide The Holocaust Firearms and knives (mostly machetes). The Holocaust The Rwandan Genocide Lasted about 3-4 months. Killed The Holocaust The Rwandan Genocide Approximately 11 million people Between 500,000-1,000,000 people Public The Holocaust The Rwandan Genocide The Nazi’s tried to hide what they were doing, the public knew what was happening to a certain extent but were not fully aware, they chose to ignore it because what they did hear they took as rumors that were to horrific to be true. The Hutu did not try to hide what they were doing from the public, everyone knew and it was very clear, because unlike the Holocaust were the killings happened in the camps during the Rwandan Genocide killings were mostly random street attacks for everyone to see.
