Pros and Cons of Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs Pros - cfl lights last ten times longer than an average bulb -use less energy to produce the same amount of light - They save up to $40 in electricity cost -They are widely available Cons -you can not dim cfl lights -They contain a highly toxic chemical called mercury -Depending on the bulb it needs a warm up time - you have to dispose them in a safe environment because of the mercury WHERE TO SAFELY DISPOSE CFL LIGHT BULBS 1. Your local garbage service 2. Commercial services AND 3. Home Depot now has a cfl recycle program My recommendation I would recommend to you a cfl light bulb over a regular bulb or led bulb. Even thought the cfl bulbs contain mercury there are safe ways to dispose of them and this is one extra step but they still cost less and are more energy efficient THE
