Transcript of PD Meeting Presentation
On December 5th, 2013 we launched Classic 107.1 FM, Winnipeg's ONLY dedicated classical and jazz music station
The best in classical music hosted by smart and entertaining hosts from 6:00 AM - 9:00 PM Monday to Friday. Jazz takes centre stage from 9:00 PM until midnight.
News, Sports and Weather, on the hour, every hour during prime times
Classic 107.1, isn't just be about great music. We're also Winnipeg’s foremost cultural connection. Online and on air we cover everything from the symphony and the opera, to theatre and comedy through interviews, special programing, sponsored events and dedicated arts and entertainment reports.
Arts & Culture
The launch itself was a real arts & culture event with high profile figures from Winnpeg's artistic community, political and business worlds coming together to celebrate this new addition to the Golden West Radio family.
Highlights from the past 6 months
In the end, Classic 107 is only as good as its programming team. We are extremely proud of the on air and production talent that's been assembled.
The Classic 107 Team
More than 60 local, national and international artists of the classical, jazz, dance, theatre and literary world have come through the studio or done interviews by phone with our hosts.
Artists like James Ehnes, Matt Dusk, Andriana Chuchman, Denzel Sinclair & just this week, world renowned virtuoso pianist Marc-Andre Hamelin.
During JUNO week in Winnipeg, Classic 107 was the only station to highlight classical & Jazz music nominees.
We were also invited to partner with the JUNOS and their Classical Music Showcase.
In April Classic 107 devoted a whole day to the WSO's Carnegie Hall performance by inviting various members of the orchestra to co-host hours, feature interviews with composers, artists, Maestro Alexander Mickelthwate and Executive Producer Trudy Schroeder.
The morning after the concert, we did live phone interviews with Golden West's own Robin Hildebrand and WSO Executive Producer Trudy Schroeder.
What's Coming Up?
This summer we have three exciting partnerships beginning:
Classic 107 is the official media & volunteer sponsor for the TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival
We are the official media sponsor of the International Cello Festival of Canada
And we are the official sponsor of Sunday Night Smooth Jazz at the Lyric
Unlike other Golden West Radio stations we don't have a web portal.
All of our interviews live here along with promotional content.
This is where we post a large amount of content from the Classical and Jazz music world: news articles, blogs, memes.
Real time promotion of things coming up on an hourly basis
Re-tweeting news, articles, blogs from the classical and jazz music world
Promoting items on classic107.com
Real time promotion of things coming up on an hourly basis especially with the performers themselves and/or labels/distributors
The Next 6 Months

Add more cultural voices and community voices to the ongoing daily sound of Classic 107
More ways and better ways to drive listeners to classic107.com.
Bring all non-commercial production in-house
Refine the Classic 107 Arts & Entertainment Calendars
Improve Music Master's effectiveness in accurate scheduling for both jazz and classical.
What Can We Do That No One Else Can?
Classic FM 107.1 fills a need that is currently not being met by any broadcaster. Whether it's through promoting events, profiling artists, getting a behind-the-scenes look, we are Winnipeg's destination spot for classical music, jazz and the arts
