Music's Connection to Geometry
Geometry of Pianos
Chords
Grand Staff:
This is a chord chart. It shows what shapes the chords are.
This is a B minor chord.
It makes a parallelogram
This is a G chord
It makes an isosceles triangle
When playing a string instrument, the positions of the chords make different geometric shapes.
Relating Shapes to Instruments
Most music is structured on several series of chords. Here are how a few of them work:
Major Triad
A major triad has three notes: the root (the bottom note), the 3rd (the middle note), and the 5th (the top note).
Minor Triad
Major 7th
Minor 7th
C Major Triad
A minor triad also is composed of a root, 3rd, and 5th, however, the 3rd is placed differently.
C Minor Triad
A major 7th chord is built like a major triad, but it also has another note, called the 7th. The 7th is usually placed above the 5th.
C major 7th Chord
A minor 7th chord is built like a minor triad, but it also has an added 7th, however, the 7th is placed differently than a major 7th chord.

Introduction:

The connection of Geometry to Music is kind of far fetched, and you have to use your imagination to visualize the certain elements of music that vaguely relate to geometry.
An upright piano's composition is a group of rectangles
