Dear Lydia,

My dearest sister, how are you? I hope that you are well with your husband and children. Thank you for the letter you’ve written to me. Do not worry about how I am here; I am quite well. So are our parents and our sister, Lina. How are my nephew and nieces? Do they miss me? I really hope so! Also, pass my greetings to John, my brother in-law. I hope he is as well too.

You asked about our aunt, Auntie Marinah. Well, just to tell you she is not doing so well here. Our mother visits her at the hospital every day and stays with her often the whole day. I was told that she’s having problems with her kidneys. It was not very severe, they first said but that was a few months ago. Now, she is still in the hospital and the doctors are baffled, as they do not know what is wrong with her. Even with a new kidney, she’s still unable to urinate properly so she does so through a tube. It’s quite heartbreaking to see her. As you have known, Lina had just done her ‘O’ levels. Great news is that she has passed her ‘O’ Levels with 8 ‘O’s. She managed to get 3 ‘A’s and 5 ‘B’s and we’re very proud of her. How are Alec, Tia and Vivy’s studies there? Are they coping well with their grade school? I heard that they would be having their exams soon. Wish them luck for me.

You also asked if there is any special occasion going on here. Do you remember our second cousin, Alid? He is getting married soon, maybe sometime at the end of this year. His fiancé is a doctor and since he is a lawyer, Lina said they are kind of a ‘power couple’. I’m not sure what that means though. I don’t think they have superpowers.

I really miss you, Lydia. School has been very hectic lately. Ever since you’ve migrated to Australia to work there with your family, it has been very quiet around the house. I miss all of you. Do come and visit soon. I shall tell you more about home after I hear from you soon. Please reply this letter. Take care in Australia. Send my regards to all.

With lots of love,
Linda INSTRUCTIONS
