We have put 2 Subjects through 3 different Trials to study there heart rate as they exercise. Subject 1 is male and Subject 2 is female.
The Resting Trials:
Both subjects will relax while their pulses are taken.
The Exercise Trials:
Both subjects will go through exercise courses and then count their heart rate after each course.

Subject 1 turned out to be more relaxed then Subject 2

It turns out, the most that the exercising did to our heart rate is almost double it.

We Hypothesize that Subject 1 will recover faster then Subject 2.
Recovery Rate: Aprox. 2 min
Subject 2 recovered much quicker the Subject 1.

Course 3: Chair Kicks
The Cooling Trial:
Subject's pulses will be measured immediately after the last course in Trial 2. We will time how long it takes for their pulses to get back to normal.

We thought that Subject 2 would be more relaxed.
The Nocebo Effect: An illusion where the brain makes you think your feeling something, but your actually not.
1. Have subjects relax
2. Have subjects place 2 fingers on Carotid Artery and find heart beat (click next for example).
3. Once found, count to 30 while subject counts heart beat.
4. Record beats and multiply by 2x for heart rate.
5. Repeat Steps 2-4 and average.
6. Record data.
We hypothesize that the exercises, at the most, will triple their heart rate.

Error in Stopwatch
1. Have both subjects do 20 jumping jacks.
2. Have subjects take pulse.
3. Record data and multiply by 2 or heart rate.
4. Have subjects relax and drink water for 1 min 30 sec.
1. Have subjects run 10 meters
2. Do this 5 times.
3. Have subjects take pulse.
4. Repeat steps like in previous exercise.
1. Have subjects stand behind a chair.
2. Have subjects swing there legs over the chair in this fashion: Right right, left, left.
3. Repeat steps in previous exercises.
1. After last exercise, have subject hold fingers on carotid artery.
2. Start stopwatch and record pulse until it reaches resting heart rate.
3. Record data.

Measurement in Heart Rate.
In conclusion, this experiment did not confirm our original hypothesis that the exercises would triple our heart rate. In fact they only (aprox) doubled our heart rate. When both subjects took part in the shuttle run their heart rates (on average) about doubled. Subject one's heart rate went from 56 to 110 and subject two's went from 65 to 88 during the shuttle run. About the same results came about from the other exercises (see data table below). Thus, we have much evidence to support our findings: that exercise increases heart rate. There could be some error in our data though such as environmental issues (Subject 2 had to do one of the exercises in the cold outdoors, unlike subject 1). Also potential sources of error could be miscounting, contrast in effort, and the nocebo effect. Also the recovery rate trial is not included in the graph because it could not be translated into it because of how we established it.
