records. Mariah Carey In 2012, Carey was chosen to be a judge for season 12 of "American Idol." She has two older siblings:
a brother, Morgan, and a sister,
Alison. Shortly after this, her mother began giving
her vocal lessons at age 4. Moved to Manhattan and worked as a
waitress, coat check girl, and studied
cosmotology . Here, she met Tommy Mottola and gave him a
demo tape. Immediately after listening to it, he signed Carey and began working on her first album, "Mariah Carey" (1990). Her second album, "Emotions," was released in 1992. Mariah Carey In March 1992, Carey appeared on MTV's
Unplugged. In 1993, Carey married Mottola at Manhattan's St. Thomas Episcopal Church and released "Music Box" that same year. "Merry Christmas" (1994), "Daydream" (1995), and "Butterfly" (1997). Mariah Carey Carey and Mottola divorced in 1998. This same year, she realeased "#1's," featuring 13 previous chart topping singles. Mariah Carey In 1998, Carey began dating Latin singer,
Luis Miguel. They split in 2001. In April 2001 she signed a new deal with Virgin
Records. That July Carey was admitted into the hospital under
psychiatric care. The release of her upcoming feature film, "Glitter," and it's accompanying soundtrack was postponed for a whole month. Carey was released from the hospital after two weeks. Mariah Carey January 2002, Carey and EMI ended their contract. The film and soundtrack for "Glitter" wasn't as successful as planned . Carey walked away from Virgin Records with $50 million. May 2002, she signed with Island/Def Jam Records and made a comeback in December with her eighth album, "Charmbracelet." Charmbracelet's accompanying tour launched June 2003. Mariah Carey Carey Married Nick Cannon April 30, 2008 in the Bahamas, after only dating for 2 months. In 2011, Carey and Cannon welcomed twins, Moroccan and Monroe. She has sold over 160 million albums. 3rd Best-Selling female artist. Second to The Beatles for the most #1 singles. Launched a series of fragrances. Mariah Carey THANKS FOR WATCHING!
