2 Phases of Our New Identity The Gospel Is My Identity The Gospel for those in Christ Examining Our Identity Our Legal Standing with God Phase 1 Justified in Christ Our Legal Standing with God Reconciled to God Our Legal Standing with God Our Relational Standing with God Phase 2 Adopted as His Children Our Relational Standing With God Acting like God's Child Living Out of Our New Identity Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:1-2 You are pronounced "Not Guilty" You stand in grace...NOW Do you live this way? Grace didn't just get you into the Kingdom of God; it keeps you there! Romans 5:9-10 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Alienation is over! God is NOT ANGRY WITH YOU! Don't believe your guilty feelings God doesn't turn his back on you Christ secured reconciliation 2 Corinthians 5:19 All this is from God,who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. No longer counts our sins against us! You are declared Righteous! Isaiah 43:25 "I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more." The record of your sin is burned He chooses to not remember them Romans 8:15 and 23 Vs. 15- For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!" Vs. 23- And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. We call God Daddy! We are His Children This is as much the Gospel as the Romans 6:23 part! Scripture is truth, not your feeling, not others’ opinions of you Choose to obey. James 1:22 Be real with God. Luke 18:9-14 Confess to trusted friends. James 5:16 Be renewed in your mind. Romans 12:2 Ask God to guide you. Psalm 25
