Sustainability in YEE
TRANSPORT
Youth and Environment Europe (YEE)

-platform of European youth organisations

-through its activities, YEE strives to protect the environment and supports sustainable development.
FOOD
WASTE AND RECYCLING
Through YEE projects and activities we want to be as eco-friendly as possible and we follow sustainable principles.

Food consumption, waste, recycling, transport, venue or materials
have a big impact on the environment, on our communities and on each of us as well.
Here are a few things you
should keep in mind!
All food in YEE projects is
vegetarian.
WHY?

• Vegetarianism contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions.

• Producing 1kg of beef emits
13 times
as much CO2 as producing 1kg of plant protein.

• Vegetarianism contributes to water conservation.

Animals suffer from pain and fear just as much as people do!

In our projects we do
recycling!
WHY?

• Recycling helps to reduce the pollution caused by waste.

90%
of waste is recyclable.

• Recycling requires much less energy when making products from raw materials; and it preserves natural resources!

• By recycling we can reduce the
45%
of waste in Europe that is dumped
to landfills.

• Recycling reduces financial expenditure in the economy.

• Through recycling we preserve natural resources for future generations.
For travelling to projects, we choose travelling by land (taking the train or the bus).
WHY?

• Air travel is currently responsible for
4-9%
of the total climate change impact of human activity.

• By taking the train or bus we help decreasing the
628,000,000
tonnes of CO2 produced yearly by flights.

• Cycling is even better for the environment! Taking the bike produces
ZERO CO2
emissions.

Food consumption, waste, recycling, transport, venue or materials
have a big impact on the environment, on our communities and on each of us as well.

• By paying more attention to what and how we consume, we can improve our health.

• All nutrients necessary for your body to function well can be obtained from plant food.

• Animal foods are higher in fat than most plant foods and thus less healthy.
Vegetarian food is
HEALTHY:

It is good for the
ENVIRONMENT:
It reduces the
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
•Energy, water and other resources are saved by eco-friendly venues.

•Reducing paper will save some of the
4 billion
trees that are cut down each year for paper.

•Reusing and recycling materials means less waste and saving resources.

78,000
plastic bags!)
