Transcript of The Shakers
Acknowledged for creating crafts with outstanding reliability that they were put into mass production. Men and women were put in separate living quarters. Shaker Furniture
and Woodworking Wood-Crafts included chairs, tables, beds, cupboards, and drawers. As true to their lifestyle, the furniture they made was simple and pratical. One other characteristic they had when building furniture was that they made the furniture very durable and long lasting. More about the Shakers Shaker communities were established between 1783-1836 in New York, New England, Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. By the mid 1900s, there was a population of 4, 000-5,000 Shakers in the community. The Shakers has its roots back in the colonies from the Quakers. The Shaker group started at Manchester, England in 1747. They are known for shaking while praying. Shaker Lifestyle Citations "The Shakers: A Brief History." hancockshakervillage.org.
