Transcript of Time Travel
Like as the waves make towards the pebbled shore,
So do our minutes hasten to their end;

What is Time?
It is impossible to accurately define time. It is not regular and it changes depending on relative speed.
Time (noun): the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole.
According to Einstein, "time is simply what a clock reads. The clock can be the rotation of a planet, sand falling in an hourglass, a heartbeat, or vibrations of a cesium atom." Time is not regular; it can beat at different rates and changes depending on relative speed. According to his theory of special relativity, the faster an object moves, the slower its time will run to someone observing from the sidelines.
In 1895, H.G. Wells published
The Time Machine
, a novel about a man who builds a time machine and is catapulted into the future (802,701 AD) where he experiences many new walks of life and must interact with them. This novel is credited with the popularization of the concept of time travel by using a vehicle that allows an operator to travel purposefully and selectively. It also coined the word time machine.
Other more recent movies, such as Back to the Future, The Terminator and Planet of the Apes have further sparked interest in the possibility of travel through the forth dimension throughout the general public
Is it possible?
As a result of this new, widespread public interest in time travel, scientists began to debate whether or not frolicking through the fourth dimension was even fathomable...
Is time real?
Does it flow in one direction only?
Does it have a beginning or an end?
What is eternity?
TIME TRAVEL IS POSSIBLE.
It is widely accepted by most physicists that time travel into the future is possible if one is moving fast enough, however it is impossible to travel back into the past, much to the relief of historians.

Imagine you hated your grandfather so much you wanted to go back in time and kill him. So you go back to before he was married and shoot him. As a result, one of your parents was never born and therefore you weren't either, making it so there was no one to go back in time and kill your grandfather in the first place. So your grandfather would have lived and you would have been born, just to go back and kill him again........
This never ending cycle is exactly why time travel
into the past
is impossible. According to Stephen Hawking, "This kind of time machine would violate a fundamental rule that governs the entire universe - that causes happen before effects, and never the other way around. I believe things can't make themselves impossible. If they could then there'd be nothing to stop the whole universe from descending into chaos."
It is still possible to time travel into the future without defying any laws of physics!
The only problem is....
You would have to be moving at about 99.99% of the speed of light
The fastest manned vehicle in history was Apollo 10. It reached 25,000mph. But to travel in time we'll have to go more than 2,000 times faster...
The law enforcement of the universe has decided that the speed of light is the fastest any particle can travel within the infinity of space. Therefore, when an object gets extremely close to reaching the speed of light, the universe must slow down time for the object relative to the rest of the world
Example given by Stephen Hawking:
A train is circling the Earth at as close as it can get to the speed of light without reaching it. As the train accelerates toward top speed, time starts flowing slowly on board relative to the rest of the world. This precaution is taken in order to protect the speed limit; The universe intentionally must slow the train down. Imagine that the train left the station on January 1, 2050. It circles Earth over and over again for 100 years before finally coming to a halt on New Year's Day, 2150. The passengers will have only lived one week because time is slowed down that much inside the train. When they got out they'd find a very different world from the one they'd left. In one week they'd have traveled 100 years into the future.
Although making a train that moves that fast is nearly impossible right now...
We do have the Large Hadron Collider, the world's largest and highest energy particle accelerator.
Inside of this machine the particles immediately accelerate from 0 to 60,000mph and as the power turns up, the speed increases until it hits 99.99% of the speed of light. When this happens, the particles begin to travel in time. This was proven bysome extremely short-lived particles, called pi-mesons. Ordinarily, they disintegrate after just 25 billionths of a second. But when they are accelerated to near-light speed they last 30 times longer.
All of this research has proven that perhaps someday, time travel may be a part of everyday life, just as modern technology such as computers, cars and airplanes, are now.
