Accidentally killed his brother in a hunting accident
father was a doctor in the country where they lived very poorly
after father's afair, family moves to Puerto Rico to rebuild, mother dies there after a risky surgery
father was addicted to amphetamine, oldest son got into some of his pills and died
father married woman he had affair with soon after mother's death, Gregory did not attend wedding The Blessing Exerpts "The invisible pillar of shame that had protected me during the funeral had disappeared... Nothing stood between me and my wretchedness."
