Transformers: Age of Exctiction
Transcript of Transformers: Age of Exctiction
Paramount was founded in 1912 by Adolph Zukor, William Wadsworth Hodkinson and Jessie L. Lasky.
Paramount stands as one of the oldest and biggest movie studios in Hollywood at just over 100 years old.
Paramount takes pride in the fact that it has hired well renowned talent from both directors and actors from the studios early days to beloved stars of the modern world.
Paramount has aided iconic films such as: Titanic, Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump, and The Godfather.
The movie's budget was £136,421,220 ($210,000,000) and grossed £159,436,219.14 ($245,428,137) back.
The film took 18 months to produce.
During production, the filming was delayed for a few days and could have been longer due to the permit for filming had been requested too late.
The film used Austin Texas and Detroit (USA), Hong Kong and Beijing (China) as the main filming locations.
When it came to adding the Transformers, they would film the area that they would be placed in e.g. Yeager's house, then add them on when it came to editing as well as any other effects such as fire.
The film used a combination of effects created physically (explosions) and effects created digitally (Fire).
Director: Micheal Bay
Release Date: 27 June 2014 (UK)
Run Time: 166 Min
Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, Peter Cullen, Stanley Tucci.
The film used green screen for certain scenes e.g. 2 truck drivers reacting to their truck trailer being destroyed. As this was a practical effect, green screen was used so the actors were not in harms way. (one of the drivers was the director acting), when the CIA agent James Savoy is falling out the aparment building window.
The production crew used IMAX/ 3D cameras when filming.
The film had to compete with other big blockbuster movies such as Guardians of the Galaxy, Godzilla and X-men: Days of Future Past.
The genre of the film is Science fiction/action.
Paramount is an independent company based in Los Angeles (Hollywood).
The film was the first in 2014 to gross over $1billion and 19th of all time.
Hasbro and TakaraTomy own the Rights to Transformers, but Paramount has legal rights to make the live action movie franchise and so fund and publish it.

There were many rumours on: if there would be another movie, who would direct it, and who would play the lead role.
Duan Johnson was offered the lead role as Cade Yeager but had to turn it down because it would cause schedule conflicts with the movie he was currently working on, Hercules.
Filming began on 28 May 2013
During filming in Hong Kong, a three man group of street gangsters demanded HK$100,000 or US$12,900 from Michael Bay in exchange for protection from other street gangs. When Bay refused, one of the gangsters attacked Bay with a portable air conditioner, but didn't hit the director, and all three were arrested (taking 3 police officers to detain one).
Micheal Bay is well know as "the king of explosions", as he will use real explosives over special effects at every possible chance in all of his movies.

The film works as a giant advert for car companies as there were many new models of cars and supercars, such as:
to name a few.
The film has a problem with the way is portrays its main female character Tessa. The film makes her look like a damsel in distress, an incompetent character who is there as a motivation only and in one scene someone to be thrown around. However in the final fight when Optimus Prime faces Lockdown, she shows she is capable when she use the towcable of a pickup truck to pull Lockdown over and get Optimus free.

One scene is a call to controversy, when Cade and Shane are argueing about Shane dating Tessa, Shane claims he is protected by the Romeo and Juliet law as they were dating when he was underaged/ a minor, but in reality, the law doesn't protect him as the age he was the wrong age for the law to help him and the age gap between him and Tessa is too great, also Shane shows Cade a card and declares a number which is linked to law keeping him from being prosecuted, but the number he provides and the number on the card are different.
The film contains some dialogue which some may consider racist e.g. Cade calls Shane who is Irish, a leprechaun, Drift's personality is based off a Samurai (which is Japanese) which some may consider a racist Sterotype and in the final battle in Hong Kong, Hound pulls out a knife and uses it to stab a Decepticon in the head whilst saying "got your fortune cookie here" which some may find racist due to the setting.
Paramount are consistantly called one of the "Big Six" of Hollywood film studios.
In 2014, the studio was announced to be the first studio to distribute all of its films only in digital form.
The studio was orignally named "The Famous Players Film Company", but later became know as Paramount.
The mountain logo, for the studio is the longest, existing, original logo in the Hollwood film industry.
