DEFINITION & DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ISLAMIC MANAGEMENT AND CONVENTIONAL MANAGEMENT
PRINCIPLES OF ISLAMIC LEADER
THE PRINCIPLES OF ISLAMIC MANAGEMENT
The ability to utilize both material and human resources in order to achieve the goals
Based on the teachings generated from the holy Al-Quran and As- Sunnah. (provided guidance in making decisions.)
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ISLAMIC MANAGEMENT & CONVENTIONAL MANAGEMENT
SYURA
Emphasize on the importance of managing through teamwork
Enable members of an organization to participate in the decision making process.
Allows group members to express opinion
JUSTICE
Leader should deal with people justly and fairly regardless of race, color national origin or religion.
The Al-Quran commands Muslims to be fair even when dealing with people who oppose them.

FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION
Practiced two-way communication
Members may freely voice their views or objectives and have their questions answered.
MASRUI'AH
The concept of legality whereby the mangement has to ensure that any action taken must be within the legal boundary of the common/made laws and “syariah” laws.
The goal must be harmoniously linked with worldly aims.
The moral and obligation value of work should be integrated.

We should internalize the islamic ethical values

Human nature and needs should be considered simultaneously.
Paid sufficiently, promptly, fairly.

Syura or consultation
Managers must be fair in any action and reward people accordingly.
Islamic Management views rewards as the compensation/benefits earned.
QUALIFICATION
This principle looks at the importance of selecting the right management personnel.
Based on person ability, expertise, experience and other suitable criteria that fits the job.

ISLAMIC MANAGEMENT

No demarcation between the secular and the religious.
Human life is an organic whole.
All human activity can be Ibadah provided they are guided by Allah's commandments.
CONVENTIONAL MANAGEMENT

Clear demarcation between the secular and the religious.
Human activities are seperated
Spiritual or religious aspect is a private matter of individuals while work is in public domain.
