His Life as President
Before he was the 7th President, he was also a delegate to the state constitutional convention in 1795, then Tennessee's first congressman, and then a senator.
Andrew Jackson had a pretty harsh life. He went through being an orphan starting at the age of 14. He finished schooling and worked as a school teacher for a short period of time.
He had been known as the First Modern President because of his belief that the president is not just an executive but a representative of the people.
Well-known for his policies toward African Americans who were being pushed further west during Western Expansion.
In 1844-1845, Jackson's health declined rapidly, he battled constant pains, infections, and illnesses. He died June 8, 1845 at the age of 78 and was buried in the garden at the Hermitage.
