Steroids In Baseball
Players who test positive for steroid usage should be banned from the Hall of Fame or have an asterick next to their name *
The steroid era in baseball is largely considered from 1994-2004.

Steroids had been banned since 1991, however, there was no way to enforce the ban until 2003.

In 2003, Major League Baseball (MLB) began testing players for steroids.
How widespread is steroid usage?
Senator George J. Mitchell conducted a 21 month independent study, which looked into the use of steroids in baseball.
Players were told that they would remain anonymous if they participated.
Years later, the names of 89 players alleged to have used steroids were leaked.
Many people, including past players, believe that 89 players was extremely low and that just about everyone was using steroids:
One of baseball's most notorious steroid users, Jose Canseco, admitted he never would have been a Major League caliber player without the help of steroids.
"There are guys in the game only because of steroids. They couldn't make it with their natural talent, so they had to enhance themselves."
-David Wells
Imagine if a student was allowed to use his or her book for 30% of a test.
Most of the time, the student's grade would raise substantially.
The same is true in baseball, steroids can drastically improve a player's strength, which can therefore improve their performance.
Examples of players before and after steroids:
Barry Bonds
Sammy Sosa
Mark McGwire
These players should not be honored for their achievements in the same place as those who performed solely on talent.
