To EduID or not to EduID the mess is real What is the risk? Users Need to Click something... DO NOTHING IMPROVE USABILITY, NO BRANDING ADOPT AND USE EDUID ADOPT AND USE ??? 1 2 3 4 Argument for: Services are already out there, publishers will refine own interfaces based on user feedback, low cost, low effort approach Argument against: Turning users off federated access will eventually impact all federated approaches Makes interfederation even more difficult Argument for: Lots of work can be done to improve WAYF functions without changing current branding. Don't have to get publisher or federation buy in. Each federation is in charge of own needs Argument against: We can do this AND branding. Doesn't solve initial user 'where to click' problem. Argument for: Clear consistent brand that makes sense in the context we are all working in. Solves the 'where to click' problem. No better name suggested! Home for REFEDS marketing Argument against: Is 'edu' not inclusive enough? Difficulties of getting agreement from the parties. Who is responsible for coordinating? Brand horror! Arguments for: Some dissatisfaction with eduID Arguments against: No other suggestion has been tabled :-) Why not wait and let Kantara / NISO / Someone else sort it out?
