The Jesus Way September 2011 The world is full of
different "ways" Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.”
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Mark 8:27-29 Peter was a Jew
- Awaiting the Messiah
- Following Jesus the Rabbi We have information as the audience
that the characters don't have. Mark 1:1 – “The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.” Peter answered, “You are the Messiah.”
Mark 8:29 Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.
Mark 8:30 The Messianic Secret Jesus is not interested in getting people to
figure out who he is. He is interested in
having people follow him and follow after
his way of living. You don’t have to know what you’re looking for,… you just have to start looking.
