Prepositions Prepositional Phrases and A preposition relates the noun or pronoun that follows it to another word in the sentence. Examples: Sarah looked at the flat land. Did you see the coyote near the fence? Life on the prairie was difficult then. People carried water to their houses. The OBJECT of the preposition is the noun or pronoun that follows the preposition. A Prepositional Phrase is made up of a preposition, the object of the preposition, and all of the words in between them.
