POWER TWITTER 9 Tips for Being Efficient and Effective on Everyone's Favorite Social Network 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Best Practices Content Tools THE POWER DM make it personal make it memorable 15 minutes of research and DMs can build credibility and save you time catching up later on start a convo! flattery = powerful talk biz show off a little Resist the Urge to Favorite! X favorite tweets like these a better method inbox zero can be a powerful motivator Build THE List 100% good content can RT based on headline alone the essentials pretty small, < 7% of my total following other lists aren't a bad idea, either Google Reader is Your Friend RSS still has a purpose! unique, lesser-known content build relationships with bloggers info OVERLOAD! much more manageable (and unique!) ENGAGE (also: butt in, eavesdrop, ask questions) on Twitter, things that SHOULD be creepy... kind of aren't. broadcasting isn't tweeting with more connections comes more content and more followers Twitter is like listening to everyone talk, ALL the time, and only choosing to respond to the interesting parts. That's what makes it great. Be Aware your smartphone is your friend being connected is a good thing use push notifications from news apps to make breaking news easy everything is live-tweetable hashtag it up! Scheduled Tweets! get ahead of the game and avoid distractions by tweeting in advance cotweet does it... a little better than tweetdeck (but I still love it!) focus on your dayjob space out your content, fill the holes with conversation, breaking news, and the occasional what-I-had-for-breakfast tweet vacation? let people know where you are while you're gone want to sleep in? schedule a few good morning tweets in advance want to plan a Twitter promotional campaign in advance? DO IT! Manage Who You Follow it's not all about the followers... ...use ManageFlitter.com to manage who you FOLLOW get rid of dead weight on your stats see the quiet users you might be missing Check Out Those Stats! tweetstats.com got a little crazy in July, there... KLOUT: the only measure of influence you need are you missing key traffic times? not sleeping enough? are you underutilizing certain tools? this should be big this should be small what's your style? what are you talking about? are you getting better or worse? aim for the sky! big is great but the more engaged the better BONUS TIP! Wake Up Early energy is the best tool you have mornings = productivity (for most people) Thanks for Coming! twitter.com/alexpriest alexpriest.com facebook.com/alexpriest flickr.com/alexpriest delicious.com/alexpriest last.fm/users/alexpriest schedule Follow Fridays as you go along
