Mapping XP

In this sense, this project is an amalgam of several topics previously mentioned, it has its roots in the
current movement of the “neo-cartography” where new technologies labeled as Locative Media and
trends from the Web 2.0 modify the activity of producing, interacting with and the very content of
maps. It focuses though in the map as augmentation of reality through digital annotations of the physical
space, not the representation of space in a form of visualization.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
CONCEPTUAL LANDSCAPE
diary making: collecting and organizing personal memories

reading the representation: navigating the map interface

active/ passive exploration: navigating the space

social activities: using the experiences to get in touch with others and create/ participate in activities in the real world.

ACTIVITIES
Next ?
"Sometimes it is far too easy to live our lives in "default settings", doing what we know,
what we feel comfortable with. It is much
more difficult to stop, look up, and ask ourselves:
Is there another way? Is there an alternative?"

Brendan Dawes,Analog In, Digital Out.
PROJECT BRIEF
The project aims at creating a system that filters the cloud of experiences published digitally and matches it with the user's general or instant interests. The delivery of results is location contextualized, calling attention to and revealing pieces of poetry from everyday lives in the urban space.
INTRODUCTION
>> main purposes for using a map:
travelling, finding, searching, reaching, knowing location, orienting, navigation.
>> interesting outliers: understanding, informing,
just curiosity, pleasure, exploring, planning.
>> main methods of documenting your life:
photos, writing, sketch, video, mobile.
>> interesting outliers: collecting scraps, memory, keeping souveniers, use the body itself
>> main reasons to document an experience:
revisit, relive, remember, return, share, nostalgia,
keep the first time experiences.
>> interesting outliers: people in their daily lives, a view point, funny accidents, a nice place to think about the future.
COLLECTING STORIES
 INQUIRES
COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
there is enough data about individual in the internet already, building extensive profiles is a cumbersome activity. The system should be able to collect data from your virtual identities.

>it should look and feel tailored to the user

> it should allow social contact between members

> it should be quick to setup, not demaning input of more information

> it should have strong control over permissions settings

> it should create a poetic experience in itself, that people feel like repeating

> it should invite the user
to the experiences without becoming annoying.

> should bring knowledge
in a playful and entertaining way
RESEARCH FINDINGS
most applications using locative media focus on OBJECTIVE data, actionable knowledge. Is there space for an alternative? To Contemplationable Knowledge?
people enter their data an share their stories naturally if there's a tool available, even if there's no clear instant benefit. [vid Daytum].
There are already enough inputs of information from social networks and apps available online. My application should read from all these inputs.
