Two productivity apps from Apple that are the cream of the crop for presentations and document editing. They are not cheap as far as iPad apps go - $10 a piece, but they are worth the cost.
Productivity Time
iCabMobile
Keynote & Pages
DOWNLOADS! iCab Mobile has a built-in Download Manager so you can download almost all files from the Internet (even YouTube videos!). The downloads can be easily transferred to a Mac/PC/Linux computer but also to other Apps on the device which can open these files. iCab Mobile supports Dropbox to export/import bookmarks, transfer downloads, images, files, & web pages to your Dropbox account. Also great support for sharing/posting to other Web 2.0 sites/services.
Core Time
General Ed Time
Fun Time
Google Drive
An intuitive and straightforward office document tool that makes it easy to open, view, create and edit Word (DOC & DOCX), Excel (XLS), and now PowerPoint (PPT) files right from your iPad!
Office² HD can connect you to all of your stored documents! Access your Google Docs, DropBox and MobileMe iDisk. The app also stores ANY file and easily transfers it between any computer for convenient one-stop file storage, just like a USB stick!
Office2 HD
Drafts
Drafts is the quick, easy way to capture and share text. In Drafts, text comes first – open the app and get a new, blank draft – ready to type. Don't get bogged down in a timeline just to tweet or post to Facebook. Don't tap your way through multiple screens to get down an email or SMS. Don't navigate folders, create files and name them just to jot down a note or create a to-do.
Get all of the App links and follow along at:

Evernote
Evernote turns the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad into an extension of your brain, helping you remember anything and everything that happens in your life. From notes to ideas to snapshots to recordings, put it all into Evernote and watch as it instantly synchronizes from your iPhone to your Mac or Windows desktop.
Notes can be text, photo and audio and are auto-synced everywhere, and text in snapshots are scanned and made magically searchable!
Dropbox
Dropbox is a free service that lets you bring all your photos, docs, and videos anywhere. After you install Dropbox on your computer, any file you save to your Dropbox will automatically save to all your computers, your iPhone and iPad and even the Dropbox website! With the Dropbox app, you can take everything that matters to you on the go. Not only do you have access to your stuff, it’s always backed up and safe on Dropbox.com.
Doceri
Create, control, present and share. Combining screencasting, desktop control, and an interactive whiteboard in one app, you’ll never have to turn your back to the class or audience again. Doceri is THE 800 lb. gorilla of systems for interactive lectures and teaching - that’s why you pay $30 for the companion desktop software.
Genius Scan+ & JotNot
Genius Scan+ & JotNot turns your iPhone or iPad 2+ into a document scanner. It enables you to quickly scan documents on the go and email the scans as JPEG or PDF. In addition to email, These apps provide easy upload to Dropbox, Evernote and Google Docs. Both provide smart page detection, perspective correction, & image post-processing. Both work really well with Evernote’s text scanning features to search for words in your scans and photos!
SyncSpace Free
SyncSpace lets people express and explore visual ideas together, wherever you are. It is a zoomable drawing space that can be shared in real time over the net. It is a shared whiteboard plus a whole lot more.
Google Search
You can easily search Google from Safari, but the Google Search app brings some additional weapons to the fight - Google Goggles, Voice Search, and My Location
Google Goggles allows you to search by taking a picture with your iPhone or iPad camera. Image recognition technology recognizes objects - even QR Codes - and returns relevant search results. Googles is good at identifying barcodes, products, famous landmarks, storefronts, artwork, business cards and print ads, and will now translate text in 6 languages and solves Sudoku puzzles.
Voice Search jumps into action by speaking your search into your iPad or iPhone. It supports over 20 languages. My Location search will return results customized to where you are (e.g. ‘weather’) & find places nearby without needing to type your current location (e.g. ‘pizza’ or ‘movies’).
CloudOn
Microsoft Office on your iPad! The CloudOn Workspace allows you to:
- Use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint on your iPad to create, review, and edit documents.
- Rename, delete and manage documents with your Dropbox, Box or Google Drive accounts
- View virtually any type of file, including: PDF, PSD, JPG, PNG, GIF, etc.
- Send files via email directly from the workspace
- Display, edit or create charts, change formatting, spell check, insert comments, etc into any Word, Excel or PowerPoint files
Dragon Dictation
Dragon Dictation is an easy-to-use voice recognition application powered by Dragon® NaturallySpeaking® that allows you to easily speak and instantly see your text or email messages. In fact, it’s up to five (5) times faster than typing on the keyboard.
With Dragon Dictation you can also dictate status updates directly to your Social Networking applications (Facebook and Twitter) or send notes and reminders to yourself….all using your voice. So when you’re on-the-go, stop typing and start speaking – from short text messages to longer email messages, and anything in between.
And... if you need help with dictation 'speak':

Reflector & AirServer
These are not iPad apps, but they allow you to take advantage of a built in feature (iPad 2 and up) - wireless screen sharing. No need for a $99 Apple TV or a $29 adapter cord!
These desktop computer applications mimic an Apple TV when your iPad and computer are on the same wireless network and once in mirror-mode anything on your iPad screen will show on your desktop and in turn your classroom projector, wire free!
Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop
This is the ONLY remote desktop app that streams video AND audio from your PC or Mac, allowing you to interact with your PowerPoint, Keynote, Word, Excel, Outlook, Quicken, IE, Firefox, Safari, World of Warcraft, and other PC / MAC applications over a Wi-Fi network. Go everywhere with just your iPad without having to carry your computer!

GarageBand
GarageBand turns your iPad into a collection of Touch Instruments and a full-featured recording studio. Use Multi-Touch gestures to play pianos, organs, guitars, drums, and basses. They sound and play like their counterparts, but let you do things you could never do on a real instrument. Make beautiful HD movies anywhere with iMovie, the fast and fun moviemaking app for the iPad. Designed for the Multi-Touch screen, iMovie puts everything you need to tell your story at your fingertips. Make a movie in minutes by adding video, photos, music and sound effects. Then give it the Hollywood treatment by adding a theme, titles and transitions. And you can share share your movie with the world – right from iMovie.
PhotoBooth & Camera
Not a lot to say about these, but it’s amazing to have a camera built in to the iPad 2 & 3. In conjunction with iMovie, it makes the iPad 2 a dead-simple movie studio. PhotoBooth is another way to access the camera, but adds some very fun effects that can keep people entertained for HOURS.
And with integration with the other apps like Face Time, Dropbox and Evernote, the camera can be used in so many different ways. It even has a new panorama mode that works great!
Find My iPad
This app is not so much fun in itself, but it will allow you to KEEP having fun with your iPad in the event that you and it become separated. This used to come as a part of the $99 MobileMe service, but has now become free - but you MUST SET IT UP in order for it to help you out. If your iPad goes for a walk before you do, you are out of luck.
It will also allow you to view the current location on a map, play a sound so that you can find it, protect the contents with a passcode, or even remotely wipe all of the contents.
Crayola ColorStudio HD
This app is designed to work with the iMarker stylus to become an intelligient, interactive digital crayon, but works great with just your finger. App includes animated coloring pages, you can use built-in animations, clip art, music and more to create your own coloring pages or use the free draw mode. Save and share creations on Facebook, via email or by printing.

Strip Designer
Create your own personal comic strips on your iPad using just the photos from your photo album or iPad 2 camera. Select one of the many included page templates. Add photos to the cells. Add a couple of balloons with fun words. Add additional effect symbols (stickers) like "Boom", "Splash", or "Bang" for a bit of extra spice. When you are happy with your new graphic novel, share it with friends and family by saving it to your photo album, emailing it to your friends, uploading it to Facebook or Flickr, or creating a Tweet with Twitter and Twitpic.
Puppet Pals HD
Create your own unique shows with animation and audio in real time! Simply pick out your actors and backdrops, drag them on to the stage, and tap record. Your movements and audio will be recorded in real time for playback later. This app is as fun as your own creativity. Drive is improving all the time. Docs and Sheets can be edited within the app now, and I’m sure that Slides creation and editing is not far off. This is probably a good app to have in hand if you are a Docs/Drive user.
In Drafts you can get that text down quickly and decide what to do with it later. Extensive output options let you send text to Twitter, Facebook, email, SMS, a Calendar event, quickly save it to Dropbox or Evernote – or forward it to a growing list of other Apps such as OmniFocus, Things, Tweetbot, Byword, Sparrow and more.
I’m not going to guarantee that either of these apps will work in your specific school wireless network environment - check with your District Technology Specialists to see if you can use either of these apps. Both offer a free trial, so give them a shot!
And at $8, it's the most affordable Office-like solution for the iPad
Control your presentations live with Airplay or through your Mac or PC. Create hand drawn images over your presentations with rewind and playback. Cut, copy, paste or insert images, then record a screencast video and upload it to YouTube or Facebook directly from the app.

The full version will allow creation of unlimited shared whiteboards to archive or save each session. It also allows export of the whiteboards as images or PDF.
StrataLogica for the iPad offers a free trial of the wealth of information available with a StrataLogica web account. More than just a geography reference tool, StrataLogica delivers a one-of-a-kind social studies experience using age- and grade-appropriate layers of Geography, History and Earth Science content.
