we use google apps/educational and they have now granted us 3,000 accounts @awolmail.com for all users

In 2008 around 180 million PCs were decommissioned. Unfortunately many of the  PCs sent to landfills where potential environmental contamination is possible.
"We estimate a fifth of these, or some 35 million PCs, will be dumped into landfill with little or  no regard for their toxic content," said Meike Escherich, Gartner researcher. 2008

obvious we needed a low-cost internet option
CIty of Savannah was planning a roll-out of public/lowcost but could be another year.
Cricket wirelss already an AWOL sponsor
Cricket provided 30+ accounts
We quickly resolved a way register modems
and rolled out 25 machines at the first giveaway
Some basic training for the first-time users
created a forum for confirmation of connectivitiy
offered support and called the few who had tech issues


we learned a lot  . . .
