Addition number stories (and their very tiny answers), which I created for use with my first grade math enrichment club. The students will use these number stories as models for writing their own.

Addition Number Stories Solve each number story. Draw a picture to help you solve. Then write the number sentence. Tyke found three footballs in the backyard. Carter found eight footballs in the garage. How many footballs did they have in all? 11 footballs Emma has seven carrots in her lunch. Weber has two carrots in his lunch. How many carrots do they have altogether? 9 carrots On Friday, Joe sees ten squirrels in his backyard. On Saturday, he sees six squirrels in his backyard. How many squirrels does Joe see in all? 16 squirrels Jack had a dream about twelve hairy blue monsters. Eli had a dream about five hairy blue monsters. How many hairy blue monsters did they dream about altogether? 17 hairy blue monsters Leah Grace put a quarter into a candy machine and got 6 Skittles. Hayley put a quarter into the candy machine and got 8 Skittles. How many Skittles did they get in all? 14 Skittles Noah spent 20 minutes playing video games on Saturday.
