Franciscan Outreach Association Trained case managers help our guests: set goals & establish priorities find and access housing & social services complete applications for various programs build a better life Throughout our history, our primary focus has been on serving the poor by providing them with basic services that preserve their lives and their dignity while engaging in efforts to help them improve their lives. Providing food, shelter and the tools to help the homeless in Chicago build a better life. Franciscan Outreach Association was started in 1963 by Fr. Phillip Marquard when he opened a half-way house for ex-offenders. Since our founding, we have operated a wide variety of ministries that serve the poor and homeless in Chicago. About FOA An emergency overnight shelter on West Harrison. Every night of the year, we accommodate 217 men and 40 women and provide guests with supper, breakfast, showers and visits by medical and mental health outreach workers. Franciscan House of Mary & Joseph We offer our services without regard to the religious affiliation of our guests and do not conduct any kind of religious services for them. A soup kitchen here on LeMoyne and Paulina in Wicker Park. In a dining room setting, guests enjoy a full supper with a main course and side dishes. We also provide showers, free drop-off laundry service and visits by health care workers. The Marquard Center Case Management Program Streets to Home: vouchers for 43 units of supportive housing provide general case management services and place homeless individuals into housing Two Fast-Track Housing Programs The Interim Housing program at Franciscan House: 14 participants who have 24 hour access to the shelter goal is to move to permanent housing in 120 days life skills classes, motivational meetings, opportunities for job training, skill building through volunteering We run two overnight shelters, a soup kitchen, offer case management services and have two fast-track housing programs.
