The fundation is having great leadership
A leaders journey begins by establishing what are his/hers core values.
Questions like ""what do I belive in? what keeps me awake?
what makes me jump from bed in the morning?" - are vital for becoming a great leader. When a leader knows exactly what his core values are, it becomes easy for him to establish credibility, because people act based on their values.
Credibility is the fundation of leadership. When what you say and what you do is the same thing, then you become credible.
There are many leaders who consider a strong, directive approach to be the best in handling people. There are some who consider a democratic style more appropriate. And there are a few who use delegating as their most valued leadership style.

Studies show that 80% of the leaders who create high performance climates at work use 3 or more leadership styles. I as well believe that a leader must have a balanced repertoir of leadership styles and knowledge about when to use what style of leadership.
Vision is a mandatory quality of a leader. Painting an appealing picture of the future makes everybody excited about the posibilities. Shared vision is even more impotant.

When people are "on the same page", they have more than a sense of direction, they can build a community and get inspired to commit and are encouraged to celebrate small victories along the way.

Giving people the chance to grow and learn means giving them the chance to screw up.

Lots of organizations today understand the importance of giving their people the tools to take matters into their own hands, to do great things on their own and to be responsible for the succes (and failure) of their projects.

Putting people in charge of their destiny in the organization truly is one of the key succes points of an adventure.

A team is the hart of an organization
While a leaders must encourage teamwork, he schould also encourage individuals to contribute in their own manner and having solo initiatives. Who knows what hidden talent lays just beneath your nose.

Passion comes from hiring the right people and making sure they handle the right things. One of the most important lessons I learned was to "hire for attitude, train for skill" (Tom Peters)
When people get organized, they can achieve greatness
Constant innovation is a condition for succesfull organizations.
You don't just focus on innovating products or services, but everything, including the customer experience, the business model, business processes etcetera.
More and more, customers don't just want a fitted solution to their problem,
they want an experience. They don't just buy the best car, they buy the best salesman, the bestlooking showroom - I know I did - and the best feeling that is deliverd by the car (that's why BMW has a team of engineers studying the perfect smell of a BMW car and another team studying the perfect sound of a car door shutting)

"If you don't take care of your customers, somebody else will" - Ken Blanchard
Without social contribution in mind, an organization and its leaders cannot move people with its vision. Giving something back to society schould be the main reason why any adventure begins.

Whether for profit or not, organizations with social contribution as their final goal are allways the ones that succed in accomplishing greatness.
so What makes an organization great?
Focus on great leadership,
Passionate teams and a
Valuable organizational culture.
