Academic Enhancement Annual Report Assessment Plan Creating a Culture of Assessment as a Matter of Course: Resarched-Based, Data-Driven Decision Making for Co-Curricular Academic Support Using Learning outcomes Reaching our goals of student success! Important Details Dedicated to Student Success Centralized academic unit Responsible for programs and services for students, faculty, and staff Promote effective learning strategies in and out of the classroom Enhance the academic experience of all students at the University of Kentucky Academic Enhancement services are student-responsive, purposefully student-centric and designed to foster interactions that promote learning strategies. Students’ experiences and perceptions can demonstrate what pieces are important to their success. Pondering Future Analyzing Results & Implementing Change @ Academic Enhancement Academic Enhancement University of Kentucky DEW rate for MA 109 dropped from 42.5% for non-tutored students to 31% for students who accessed tutoring! Programs Assessed: EVERYTHING!!! Today we will highlight: Free peer tutoring is available for many intro level course and offers proactive assistance. The goal is to enhance students' academic experience as early and as often as possible. Peer tutors are undergraduate students who are trained and have taken the courses they are tutoring. All tutoring is done on a walk-in basis, so students are welcome to come in anytime tutoring is available. Peer Tutoring Individual Academic Consultations Study Smarter Seminars A personalized ,one-hour meeting in which a graduate student facilitates the development of the student’s study skills, time management, note taking, etc. A one-time, non-credit earning seminar designed to help students master the art of effective study. The seminar is four hours and teaches students how to study smarter not harder. Both data collection and analysis are valued as meaningful processes and are integrated into daily operations of all programs and services so that assessment can maximize efficacy without impacting efficiency. Our Assessment Philosophy ...and this was 100% voluntary! Quantitative Data is what they require, Qualitative Data is what shocks them.
