The copying is already too distributed, too complex to monitor. Anti-piracy efforts therefore focus on the more abstract, less complicated level or infrastructure and service providers where they can use one sweeping motion.

This is why the trial against the pirate bay became a political trial. We called it a Spectrial, a performance. It was also very revealing in terms of how artworks and networks were portaited.

Copyright is not just repressive, it's also productive: it's producing certain kind of interaction with cultural artifacts. And in that sense copyright more materializes in the city, it affects like what kinds of spaces that we use for this things, so it goes back to the material. And also not only in the architecture of the city, but in the architecture of the computer networks – right now the fight is very much about what kind of communities sharing technologies will be allowed. So it is not enough to remove the repression, but it's also necessary to change the prodution of networks and artworks.

Forget the difference between analog and digital, objects and humans. this is about how people and objects are connected; the constellations. You need to open up the definitions. Not view artworks as containers that travel through networks, but something that happen inbetween the humans, object and machines that are affected.
