Drupal is a great for using socialmedia and aggregating the socialweb!
Drupal is designed to be used as Socialmedia
Drupal is very good in aggregating external data (rss, xml, kml, rdf)

2
Drupal fits into the trend towards more cloud computing
Christian Ziegler
You can use Drupal products as hosted solutions
Drupal as a base for cloud apps
Store your most sensitive and confidential data on your own server and use cloud apps for the rest

3
Especially smaller companies and organizations can benefit from Drupal's strengths
No vendor lock-in: OpenSource
Lower costs
Share software development
Huge Drupal community
Commercial support

4
Drupal is generally a good choice when it comes to online collaboration
Drupal is designed for social publishing
Some Drupal core modules are great for collaboration
There are thousands of contributed modules
amazee.org (Facebook-meets-BaseCamp for Activists)
Basecamp clone: http://www.rockclimbr.com/
5
Drupal is a great tool for any kind of task, bug or issue management
especially for collaborative software development (drupal.org)
but also for simple todo-lists and simular things
http://drupal.org/project/project
Project Module
Version Control API
Casetracker
aimed towards software projects
provides projects, source code, issue management, collaborative tagging
http://drupal.org/project/versioncontrol
interesting for software projects
GSOC project 2007
cvs, svn, git, mercurial

http://drupal.org/project/casetracker
a more generic issue tracker
minimalistic UI, but very extensible
6
Drupal is great for working in multiple smaller groups or projects with own project spaces
Why? Because there is a great module for this:
Organic Groups: http://drupal.org/project/og
Examples

hosted solution

installation profile

There are better options as Drupal if you want a default and full ERP Solution out of the box
Module with a lot of features: http://drupal.org/project/storm
Good Drupal CRM Integration: http://civicrm.org/
No mature solutions for invoices, accounting and controlling
But you could clone SAP with Drupal of course if you want! ;)
If you don't want to use a "ready-to-go" product you will have to do a lot of customizations
Summary
Drupal is fitting well to trends like socialmedia and cloud computing
If collaboration, task management or work in multiple groups is part of your desired intranet consider Drupal as base for your solution
For accounting, invoices or controlling have a look for other products
Features (the module) and Drupal products (installation profiles) are the future
