May 2007: http://twitterfeed.com is born ... 18 months pass ... Xmas 2008: 100,000 active feeds "Can I have @bbcarsenal?" "What about @bbcspurs?" "Surely you could set up @bbcqpr?" twitter goes "mainstream" By Feb 2009: no. of feeds doubled to 200K which is nice, but... hosting costs start to add up time spent supporting users grows ever longer discussions with TAG and betaworks funding agreed in spring 2009 site re-design in June what next? more analytics/ campaign tools platforms other than twitter (e.g. facebook) scaling! more efficient feed parsing distributed, AMQP based feed processing and posting superfeedr? pubsubhubbub?
