At the same time social networking sites are proliferating at a rapid rate! Facebook has more than half a billion active users - far more than there are people in the United States! Twitter is growing at a rate of 300,000 new users each day! It has yet to make money. But, it has become the "pulse" of the world! LinkedIn is an important, consulting employment, and advancement site ! http://linkedIn.com Different people choose to use different social networks. Not everyone is on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, blogs and wikis. Wikis and blogs are also forms of social networks - enabling engagement and inter- action among readers - they are especially important in education. If you are trying to get an important message out or to build a presence - you need to more than just put up a web page now. You must social network. So, how do we find a way to interlock these social networks to assure that our messages are relayed to as many reader/viewers as possible? Example: Ray's Online Learning Update blog (ray is very proud of his blog and wants everyone to read it!)
