abundance
(n.)  A large amount: "The hikers saw an abundance of wildlife in the forest."
ancestors
(n.)  A person in one's family who lived many years ago: "My ancestors were born in Japan."
lure
(n.) Fake bait used to attract and catch fish: "The fisherman tied a silver lure to his line."  
scavengers
(n.) An animal that feeds on dead animals or plants: "Scavengers often eat dead fish." 
spawn
(v.) To lay eggs and reproduce, as fish and some other water animals do: "Salmon return to spawn in the same river where they were born." 
cure
(v.) To preserve food by salting, smoking, or pickling: "Alex hangs the smoked red salmon outside in the sun to cure."
