West point...tommorow's leaders West Point develops cadets to be the best leaders they can be. They are trained physically, military, ethically, spiritually, and socially. Graduating cadets are given the Second lieutenant rank in the U.S. Army. The Physical Program West Point has both physical education classes competitive athletics. Cadets participate in sports each semester Military Program start your first day at West Point. Most training takes place during the summer. New cadets take: Cadet Basic Training the first year Cadet Field Training at nearby Camp Buckner the second year. Third and fourth summers cadets serve in active Army units around the world Cadet honor code: "A cadet will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do." Admission is open to both men and women, but is extremely competitive. Evaluation will be on your academic, physical and leadership potential. Qualified cadets receive appointments to the Academy. Life of a cadet is demanding, but West Point has "the most robust extracurricular activity program in the nation." Princeton Review ranked West Point #3 in the nation in the category “More to Do on Campus.” These include: ski slope skating rink golf course DJ club orienteering rock climbing All West Point candidates are required to submit writing scores with their SAT and/or ACT exams. The History of West Point Founded in March 16, 1802 A favorite expression at West Point is that "much of the history we teach was made by people we taught." Leaders include: General (and later President) Grant General Lee Pershing and MacArthur General (and later President) Eisenhower Patton Schwarzkopf Petraeus (are among the more than 50,000 graduates) Other graduates, after military service, have had careers in business, medicine, law, sports, politics, and science.
