Technology in Schools Story Center Story Center is a culmination of digital stories that capture a community, history, or identity. These stories are loaded online with video to provide a resource to students. Students can use Story Center to find primary sources of an event and can also have the video for presentations. Currently they have stories over:
Community
education
health
family
identity
place
The best way to use this in school is by having students to use the videos as resources for papers and presentations. However, once the students understand the concepts of digital storytelling, they can make their own story. Poll Everywhere We all know that students have cell phones on them at all times. So why not as teachers, make the most of it? Poll Everywhere is a site, that requires no sign up, and will create a poll for your students to respond to with a simple text message response. The students remain anonymous, and the site charts the information that comes in. This is great in the classroom not only because it puts cell phone to use, but because it is an extremely simple way of polling the entire class in mere minutes, with charts included.
Should a teacher decide to do this without Poll Everywhere, it would take a significantly longer time to process the information and create the charts. An Introduction (image by Steven Combs) And if you hate it when the dog eats your homework... This software allows you to work on text documents, spreadsheets, slide presentations, and more... ...and it saves it all online so you can work from anywhere and you can let your friends edit it too ...and it's FREE (video courtesy Google) This way, your files are always safe. And, a teacher with access to the document can edit and comment on it right on the internet. No paper copy needed!
