2-3: Subtracting Integers
Addition and subtraction are inverse
operations—they “undo” each other.
Instead of subtracting a number you
can add its opposite.

So: -5 - (-2) =
     -5 + 2 =
        -3

And:
17 - (-7) =
17 + 7 =
     24
Lastly:
20 - (-21) =
20 + 21 =
    41
Find the difference of 32ºF and -10ºF.
So, 32 - (-10) =
        32 + 10 =
            42ºF
In other words:
1. Change the subtraction to addition.
2. Change the number you are subtracting to its opposite!
Fabuloso!
Just remember:
To SUBTRACT an integer,
ADD its opposite!
