Being a multicultural coastal village our NJROTC unit is represented by all peoples from all races, religions and creeds. Being a predominantly Latin American unit we were invited to participate in the National Puerto Rican Parade on Sunday, June 10, 2012.
Being a coastal community Freeport was a disaster zone following Hurricane Sandy, since then Freeport High School NJROTC cadets have been working relentlessly to get our community back on its feet. We have been requested to assist our own cadet's families who are currently displaced due to the storm, the storm relief center at the Freeport Recreation Center, various clothing and food drives at our very own high school and at local churches. On Saturday December 8th our unit was personally requested by our superintendent to help clean and prepare Giblyn Elementary School for reopening to students.
And the uniqueness continues... Our Rifle Range
Freeport High School NJROTC boasts its own on site Rifle range where we shoot against other high schools in Nassau County as well as other JROTCs nationwide.
Uncommon Honor, Courage and Commitment is common place here...
Our Cadet Leadership extends far beyond NJROTC.
Cadet Saballos was named captain of the Varsity Soccer Team this past season after being a 6 year starter.
Cadet Wisvoitch was named Captain of the Varsity Rifle Team this current season.
Our cadets pursue academic excellence as shown in the amount of cadets admitted to the National honor Society
Last, but not least... the most important and unique factor of our unit here at Freeport High School NJROTC...
It's our NSI Chief McShan and SNSI Major Moore
No two men work harder to see their cadets succeed. They are the conduits of honor, courage and commitment and everyday they pass onto their cadets a new lesson in leadership, morals and ethics. It is through their conviction that we flourish.

From march 30th to April 1st, 2012 30 Freeport cadets engaged in Basic Leadership Training at SUNY Maritime, Bronx New York on board the USS Empire State. During this time cadets performed morning P.T. and participated in various leadership and team building exercises .

From June 1st to June 3rd, 2012 the FHS NJROTC participated in a Staff Development Weekend at McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Air Force Base located in Wrightstown, New Jersey. During this time the cadets employed team building exercises as well as professional development lessons to introduce the new staff to their positions and the responsibilities that accompany those positions.

On September 25th FHS NJROTC cadets visited the USS Intrepid Air, Sea and Space Museum to learn about the historic naval vessel, the aircraft that are housed on the hangar deck and the newly added Space Shuttle Enterprise.
