This course covers a diverse range of topics including different national cinemas; animated film; the study of mass media; cultural theory and popular culture; popular tv genres and representations of gender and sexuality. You will gain a critical undestanding of film and media as well as advanced skills in analysis, communication and teamwork.
BA (Hons) Media, Culture and Communication
This fascinating course focuses on the increasing prominence of the media in modern society and parallel developments in contemporary culture. You will focus on investigate how the media reflects and constructs social meanings and personal identities.
BA (Hons) Mass Communications
This course will teach you a mixture of practical and theoretical modules to ensure you know the 'why' as well as the 'how' when writing for the media. Our modles will reflect professional practices in the media industry, where working as part of a team is vital to success, so you will be encouraged to develop good comminication skills, diplomacy and a dedication to both your team and your production. Northern Rock Foundation Hall (large performance and rehearsal space) Research You will learn about the language and practice of creative advertising design and how to apply this knowledge creatively through a range of advertising media. If you are creative and have the ambition to succeed in animation then this course will teach you all the skills and experience to do just that. The course will teach you a range of skills, including; cut- out, 3D stop frame, claymation, direct on film, cell animation, abstract and experimental technqiues. The course will develop your expertise in all of the main areas of creative design: Web; multimedia; graphic design; 3D Modelling and animation; motion graphics; typography; digital video and sound.
This course will allow you the freedom to establish your own individual voice and approach to design. As we are based in the National Glass Centre, on the banks of the River Wear, we benefit from their exhibitions as well as other major ceramics collections and art galleries in the region. This course will help ypu choose the right subject to study at degree level. It will enable you to develop critical, analytical and lateral thinking skills. On successful completion you will be awarded a BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art and design and automatically be offered a place on the art and design degree course of your choice at Sunderland. Northern Rock Foundation Hall (large performance and rehearsal space) Research You will learn about the language and practice of creative advertising design and how to apply this knowledge creatively through a range of advertising media. If you are creative and have the ambition to succeed in animation then this course will teach you all the skills and experience to do just that. The course will teach you a range of skills, including; cut- out, 3D stop frame, claymation, direct on film, cell animation, abstract and experimental technqiues. The course will develop your expertise in all of the main areas of creative design: Web; multimedia; graphic design; 3D Modelling and animation; motion graphics; typography; digital video and sound.
This course will allow you the freedom to establish your own individual voice and approach to design. This exciting new course focuses on designing specialist fashion products and the development of new strategies for the fashion promotion and branding industry. You will experience a unique combination of key skills; Fashion illustration; photography and styling; jewellery and glass; surface textiles; screen print and digital design. This course will teach you the language and practice of creative design applied through a variety of media from print and screen based work to 3D. The course is primarily studio based, supported by contextual lectures in design and the history of art and design. Through designing for screen and print we will teach you what you need to know to make your mark in this fast moving industry. This course involves creative image making and problem solving to develop illustration for editorial purposes, children's books, natural history, packaging or advertising.
