Scotland is a country that is part of the United Kingdom. Scotland shares borders with England, the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the North Channel and Irish Sea. It is made up of more than 790 islands. Scotland, Wales and England forms the island of Great Britain.

The Kingdom of Scotland was an independent state until 1707 to create the Kingdom of Great Britain.

The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh.

Problematics of the book

The script of the book is based on a poem of the Blind Harry, Scotch poet of the 15th century.

Wallace could have remained in France, but he returned to Scotland to restart the revolt, but he was betrayed by Robert the Bruce in exchange for money. The English men captured it in his hiding place of Glasgow, he was condemned to death and executed in 1305.

Problematics of the book

War : Because it is the main problem in the book for me. Scotland was facing to England to protect his freedom and to obtain the independence of England. In the two wars a lot of English and Scottish soldiers died.

The death of Alexander III broke the centuries-old succession line of Scotland’s kings. This led to the intervention of Edward I of England who put in the throne his protected John Balliol. When the relation between Edward and John was bad, an attempt of conquest was produced from part of England. This attempt was refused by William Wallace in the Wars of Scottish Independence.

Later, Robert the Bruce, count of Carrick, was proclaimed king of Scotland by the name of Robert I of Scotland.

Problematics of the book

William Wallace was the second son of Malcolm Wallace, he was born noble, not peasant as the book says.

The language of Wallace, Robert Bruce and in general of the Scots of the epoch was the Scotch Gael.

The wife of the historical Wallace was Marian Braidfoot and not Murron Braidfoot as the book.

Treason: Because Robert the Bruce betrayed William Wallace when he told the English where William Wallace was . William died because of Robert the Bruce.

Death : Because a lot of good people died in the book, for example the death of Murron who died because of the English soldiers and also the death of William Wallace who fought for the liberty of Scotland.

William Wallace

William Wallace was born on 3rd April 1270, he was a Scottish soldier, of Welsh ancestry. He directed his country against the English occupation of the king Edward I of England in the First War of Independence of Scotland.

Wallace eluded the attempts of capture until 5th August of 1305. Wallace was judged and condemned to death for perfidy to the King.
