Classification in the
Design Ladder
Software Dig.:Sid — diagnostic,
benchmarking and implementations
of enterprise strategic design support
Survey
We used a smaller survey with only one new question — from 52 to 29 questions
We wanted to classify the enterprises that answered the first survey and use them for benchmarking
Classification
Justification
Recommendation
Benchmarking
The survey must be:
Flexible
Adapted to the user
Ladder Dig.:Sid
www.digsid.com
We want a direct translation of the ladder classification rules or definitions
But the information is not on the survey!
So it must be inferred from the answers
This way, it can be easily adapted to a different survey
Variables
Are there Professional designers in the company carrying out design activities?
Each variable has 3 possible values:
true,
false,
unknown
Justifications
Benchmarking
Dig.:Sid
The employees who coordinate/direct the Design activities in the company,
are they professional designers?
Recommendations
What you should do in order to go up one step in the design ladder.
We look for the features (variable values) necessary
for the next ladder that the enterprise does not attain
and make recommendations based on those missing features
But ladder 2 is every enterprise that is between the border of ladder 1 and 3, the same happens with ladder 3 regarding the border of ladder 3 and 4
So we have to look for the prototypes (center) of each ladder.
Easy with the centers of ladder 1 and 4.
Ladder 2 center:
There is design involved on product development
Product design is regular, not sporadic
There are professional designers in the enterprise involved in the product development
The consumer is taken into account
Sealing data
Incremental Benchmarking
