Sacramento APWA Poll Results So who responded to the poll? 80 Responses (about 15 percent of our membership) 71% of respondents were regular members, 29% were current or former board members. Majority of responders (80%) were 41-65 years of age JUST SO YOU KNOW WHO WE'RE DEALING WITH HERE Let's look at three areas: 1 What we offer our members 2 What people really like about our programs 3 Some things we need to work on What the Sacramento APWA offers its members... A good mix of members that work for both private and public agencies. We value the contribution of both and strive to make our programs valuable for both. Many of our members are either Department Heads or managers of their organizations. Just the people to find mentors, decision-makers, clients, highly placed service providers. Many of our members that work for private firms are principals, managing partners, or presidents of the firm. Getting you in touch with the decision-makers. We have a good mix of members that have been involved for many years, and those that are new to our organization. There is a high level of involvement of our members. They attend our monthly meetings, and also training conferences, golf tournament, and community service events The membership feels that chapter leadership is professional, forward-thinking and proactive, and member-focused. 87% of respondents are very satisfied or satisfied with their memberships, only 1% are dissatisfied What people really like about our programs... Our members take advantage of the opportunities we provide for Networking and Chapter Special Events. They also get professional development opportunties. Our members really like our monthly meetings (88% of respondents rated in very high or high). Also rated very highly are the Support Staff Appreciation lunch (72%), our Awards Program (66%), and our Education Endowment Fund Activities (58%) Sacramento APWA Needs to Work On… We need to work on our Chapter Website We need to understand the uneven response to the Golf Tournament (while 45% of respondents ranked it "very high" or "high", 7% rated it "very low"). Our chapter needs more public agency involvement, and we need to do more to attract younger members 85% of respondents want APWA to be more involved in education and training 81% want apwa to be more involved in mentoring and coaching young professionals The top three requested areas for educational programming are Transportation, Engineering and Technology, and Public Works Administration The single most important issue or challenge currently facing you that apwa could assist you with are Budget, Funding, and Economy issues The industry trends you'd like to hear about most are sustainable projects and funding innovations. 1 2 3
