Question #1: What wrong was done to make people label John Brown as a terrorist?

He was an avid abolitionist with strong morals from his family. However he fought against slavery in the wrong ways. in 1856 John Brown and his 5 sons went into a southern proslavery town and butally killed 5 settlers. and this was not the only insident. Being an abolitionist he should have approached resolution in a different manner, therefore people thought of him as an 1800's Osama Bin Laden.
Question #2: What part of John Browns past made him so passionate about being an abolitionist?
Being born into a religious family is what molded John Brown's views. His father was very much opposed to slavery. When John was 5, his family moved into a town well known for its anti-slavery opinions. From then on John Brown stuck to his morals and it became a strong passion all throughout his life.
Brown was known as
"Old Osawatomie Brown"
after he defended Osawatomie
from attack by proslavery men in 1856.
Quotes:
"Though a white man, Brown is in sympathy a black man, and as deeply intersted in our cause, as though his own soul had been pierced with the iron of slavery." ~~ Frederick Douglass in 1847.
Brown was hanged for treason on Dec. 2nd 1859.
