Tweet - a post of 140 characters
RT - retweet
HT - high tweet or "hat tip"
DM - private message to a follower
Hashtags - #, notes a common subject or event
TweetDeck manages my Tweeps. 
Hootsuite manages my Tweeting.

TweetDeck is best at organizing your friends, followers, etc. into streams to keep up with stuff from them.
Hootsuite has more advanced tweeting features like multiple personas, scheduling, url shorteners etc.
